Magnetic Whiteboard Holder Mold & Production Project
How two ABS accessories progressed through mold trials, flatness and appearance correction, magnetic-back validation and a 10,000-set production run.
Customer identity and commercial details have been intentionally anonymized.

Project Overview
Two molded products had to look consistent and sit flat on the board
The whiteboard accessory set combined injection-molded ABS bodies with thin flexible magnetic sheets. The buyer’s acceptance criteria covered durability, scratch resistance, color stability, flatness, surface appearance and reliable magnetic contact—not simply whether the parts filled.
One Commercial Set · Two Molded Products
The two parts shared a brand appearance but presented different molding risks
Sponge holder
A broad curved body where gloss, local marks and flat magnetic contact were highly visible.
Key risk: warpage and surface consistency
Marker holder
A longer multi-slot body where accumulated dimensions and magnetic-sheet flatness affected final use.
Key risk: dimensional consistency and assembly

Product & Mold Engineering
Acceptance criteria included the molded body and the assembled magnetic product
- Products: separate sponge-holder and marker-holder tools.
- Material: ABS selected for stiffness, appearance and daily-use durability.
- Mold steel: 718H specified for the two production molds.
- Magnetic back: flexible 1.5 mm sheet fitted for broad, flat contact.
- Environment: color and function reviewed for typical indoor heat and UV exposure.
- Packaging: magnets kept flat to avoid curl and assembly distortion in transit.
Defect-to-Correction Review
Each first-sample observation was converted into a validation checkpoint
This case is best understood as a correction matrix rather than a generic mold timeline. The team separated four visible or functional problems and verified each one on the improved samples.

Local tool areas were corrected and re-polished; improved samples were reviewed under consistent lighting.
Tooling and process adjustments improved flatness so the magnetic sheet could contact the board evenly.
Material and molding conditions were aligned across both products before the set entered production.
The 1.5 mm flexible sheets were assembled and packed flat to protect holding performance in transit.
Original Sample Videos · Restored
Four project videos preserve the visible approval trail
The original page’s videos are retained as separate evidence for first-sample review, improved appearance, magnetic fit and production readiness.
Sample Validation
The second review focused on what the end user would see and feel
Updated samples and videos documented the improved appearance, flatness and magnetic assembly. The same checkpoints then carried into finished-goods inspection and packaging.

Project Outcome
Two corrected tools supported 10,000 assembled sets
After the second validation round, the customer confirmed that the products worked as expected and that workmanship, execution and material resistance met the application needs. Follow-up correspondence reported no end-customer complaints.
Verified Customer Feedback · Anonymized
Workmanship and execution quality [are] acceptable, and the material resistance seems to be good.
Whiteboard-accessories buyer · Follow-up product evaluation by email
No end-customer product complaints were reported in follow-up
The feedback was received after the visible-mark, flatness, material and magnetic-backing issues had been corrected and the finished sets had entered the buyer’s market.
