Trial evidence before shipment

Injection Mold Testing and Validation

Testing turns a finished tool into an approval decision. The trial plan should define samples, settings, inspection points, open issues and the evidence required before production or mold shipment.

What a Mold Validation Package Should Answer

The exact sequence depends on the tool and part. These deliverables keep a trial from becoming an undocumented sample run.

01 · Scope

Trial purpose

Confirm fill, release, cooling, appearance and basic repeatability against the agreed drawing and DFM risks.

02 · Evidence

Sample set

Identify resin, color, cavity, date and revision so feedback refers to the right samples.

03 · Inspection

Measurements

Check the critical dimensions and functional interfaces selected before the trial.

04 · Gate

Open-issue list

Separate accepted points, corrections, retest items and decisions requiring buyer approval.

De-identified Trial Records

These examples use actual project images and correspondence with customer identities, prices and references removed.

Evidence boundary: a trial record proves the tested revision and conditions. It does not create a blanket tolerance, cycle-time or mold-life guarantee.

A Practical Approval Sequence

Freeze the test input

Part revision, resin grade, color, machine assumptions, appearance zones and critical features are recorded.

Run and label the trial

Samples and settings are linked to the cavity and trial round so feedback remains traceable.

Review part evidence

Fill, release, visible marks, fit and selected dimensions are checked against the agreed criteria.

Close or correct

Accepted points are separated from tool changes, process adjustments and the items that require another trial.

Questions Buyers Ask

Does every project need both T0 and T1?
No. Trial naming and quantity vary. The quotation should define the intended rounds, sample quantity and what triggers an additional trial.
Can a sample approval replace dimensional inspection?
Only if the buyer explicitly chooses that acceptance method. Critical fits usually benefit from a defined drawing and measurement plan.
Will you provide molding parameters?
The agreed trial settings can be supplied as project records. They describe the tested condition and must be adapted if the destination machine, resin or environment changes.

Plan the Evidence Before the Trial

Send the part drawing, resin, critical dimensions and destination for the mold. We will help organize a practical validation checklist.
